When Mom's Away...

It's always risky for me (the mom) to leave the house at night - not that Scott isn't capable, but usually he's busy with the remodeling and for some reason, my departure from the home just seems to trigger "experimental behavior" in the girls. A few nights ago I came home after my baby shower and found these notes written by Annica. It's not the first time apologies like this have been given as peace offerings, but this time I really couldn't help laughing...

This one was for the tomato juice that "spilld every ware" and "splatted" all over the kitchen and all over Annica's clothes. I'm not sure what they were trying to do with tomato juice...

This note apologizes for the next mess that happened while they were trying to clean up the first mess. Clara obviously takes great pride in her preschool creations.

While I'm blogging about the girls' writings I thought I'd also add this - it's a page from the girls first (and primitive) day planner. They're really into making schedules right now and I can see why - they just have so much to remember! (Play, play, oh and what are we doing tomorrow? Oh ya - playing! Good thing we wrote it down!) At least they get a little break from the monotony on the weekend.

Ducks

For some reason, Clara is obsessed with ducks. She has a variety of ducks she's attached to, but her favorites are "Princess Duckie" and the creatively named, "Duck." She sleeps with "Duck" every night (and why wouldn't she, he's so cuddly - just kidding, he's made of wood). As you can see from the photo here, she puts Duck to sleep in his school bus EVERY night with his "blankie" (which is really a cloth napkin from the girls' play kitchen toys. Duck was a Home Goods store find - I thought it would go nicely on my fireplace hearth, but apparently Clara had other ideas in mind for Duck and it has become her little pet. And such a cozy one too! Her other duck, Princess Duckie was unfortunately lost in the Old Navy parking lot and after realizing this was a severe blow for Clara, I ended up having to 2nd day air a new one off of Amazon. The picture of her holding the rubber ducky is taken right after she opened the Amazon box. Pure joy!
