Family Photos

While my nephew Connor was shooting family pictures of us for his portfolio this week, I took out my camera and took some pictures of my own.  These are just the ones I took, but as soon I get Connor's, I'll post some of those too.  I was brave and even let him take some of me and my extra-large belly, so stay tuned for more excitement...

p.s.  Cathryn's home ! (pictures of that soon too) We got to see her for a couple of hours on Friday night.  Our family went to the airport and met her, then took her to dinner before sending her on to Oregon...so good to see her again!!!  Annica and Grace are in Oregon right now for her homecoming and family reunion...I'm stuck here with a large belly that wants to pop...3 more weeks!

Dinner and Ding Dongs

Not a lot to report this week.  Normally for Memorial Day we'd have been at Grandma and Grandpa Shippen's for a swim and barbeque, but instead we had cold weather and threatening rain.  So we did random things like playing at the new park in Alpine (Grace earned $5 from Annica for doing this),

and taking Sam over to G&G's to "bond" with their cat (total fail, their cat just hissed at Sam and ran away)

and driving up A.F. Canyon to see how full the river was.  We've had so much rainfall that the resevoir was overflowing and the river banks are flooding...and still the mountains are covered in snow yet to melt.

The sun came out as we were leaving the canyon.

All in all, it was a nice day.

Fast forward to tonight. Dinner was interesting.  Benjamin brought up his favorite subject: bad dreams.  He let us know that Clara had a bad dream, about arms and legs.  Hmmm.  Clara denied that report.  Then he said "Well, Clara had rootbeer dreams."  Clara got even more defensive denying that claim as well.  Then Benjamin said that well, he'd had a dream about bugs and spiders that were "just bitin' me, but it didn't hurt, cause the spiders were nice" - there was apparantly a nice spider that killed the bad spiders.  These days it's all about bad guys vs. good guys.  Yesterday he told Scott he was "feeling evil."  Scott asked him, "Evil?  What does that mean?"  Benjamin said it meant you wanted to hurt people.  Then a little while later he came back to Scott and reported that he wasn't evil anymore and that he was going to be a good guy.  Ben always wants to know if I'm a good guy, or a bad guy - it depends on the day.

Mmm, here was our dinner - barbequed chicken sausages (the good kind from Costco) in rolls, green beans and (the kids' fave) mashed potatoes...and THEN, if you look just beyond the food you'll see little bundles wrapped in foil.  Yes, to round out the meal, we had a bowl of ding dongs.  (Scott brought these to the table - he's never gotten over his childhood obsession with these hostess treats).

While the rest of the kids enjoyed the ding dongs, Clara finished off her 5th serving of mashed potatoes.  That girl is definitely going through some kind of growth spurt.  She out-eats us all, everytime.  Afterward, we all walked to the park to walk along the river, and let the kids play on the toys.  Yes, Scott and I lead exciting lives...ha, ha!
