Happy 40 Years!

My Mister turned 40 last week!  We planned a small family gathering up AF Canyon to celebrate.  Scott is so funny - he insisted on making all the food (for 30 people)!  He took the day off work and spent the whole day marinating chicken, shucking corn, making twice baked potatoes and preparing the picnic area for the night.  It turned out to be a great night (Scott was exhausted) but he did say multiple times, that it was the best birthday he'd ever had.

Here's a little video of him in the morning.  He'll hate me for posting it, it's a little embarrassing.

Fun, catchy song, huh?!  He's not always such a dork...never mind, that's actually pretty common behavior for him.  No wonder most people don't believe he's 40!

Pretty good-lookin' for 40...for any age, actually...

Look at all those fires!  We took our bbq and our little smokey joe up the canyon to cook with and reheat food and it worked out perfect.

We went with the "you're still a kid at heart" theme.  Laura and Charlie gave him a skateboard to re-live his childhood with and completed the look with a retro hat. Dave and Steve gave him an ipad.  Steven and Kat, knowing perfectly how to make Scott's birthday complete, gave him 40 ding dongs, his favorite childhood treat.

I gave him paragliding lessons, an airsoft gun (Benjamin calls it the spooker), and of course....THE BOOK!  Thanks a million all you guys for contributing letters and thoughts to it.  He loved it...and that's an understatement.  He stayed up until 2am that night reading the whole thing and laughing and reminiscing over  the memories.  I unfortunately don't have pictures of it right now, but I'll post them later.

Melissa and Kat (probably talking about work - they're both nurses in the cardiology unit at Utah Valley).  Melissa is officially engaged to Dave now, and the wedding is September 16th...we are SO EXCITED to have Melissa in our family!  Good job Dave!

My friend Heather had a 40th birthday party for her hubby the same week.  She rented out the Murray Aquatic Center and the kids had a blast swimming.  Annica and Grace were reunited with their Michigan friend, Grace Neuenschwander.

Benjamin is water-challenged.  He mostly walked around holding Scott's hand the whole night.  Must've been exhausting though cause here he is later, mid-meal and fast asleep...like how he sleeps with his hand in the chip bag?

Well, that's all for now.  No baby news yet...my doctor's due date for me is this Tuesday...hopefully I'll have a baby on this blog this time next week.

Family Photos

While my nephew Connor was shooting family pictures of us for his portfolio this week, I took out my camera and took some pictures of my own.  These are just the ones I took, but as soon I get Connor's, I'll post some of those too.  I was brave and even let him take some of me and my extra-large belly, so stay tuned for more excitement...

p.s.  Cathryn's home ! (pictures of that soon too) We got to see her for a couple of hours on Friday night.  Our family went to the airport and met her, then took her to dinner before sending her on to Oregon...so good to see her again!!!  Annica and Grace are in Oregon right now for her homecoming and family reunion...I'm stuck here with a large belly that wants to pop...3 more weeks!
